Become a Client Account Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
Smart Girl Digital is looking for a Client Account Manager (CAM) who owns the day-to-day client relationship and keeps smart marketing strategy moving. You’ll turn approved growth priorities into clear action, coordinate the team responsible for execution, and make sure clients always understand what’s happening, what’s next, and where opportunities exist.
You’ll work as an extension of our clients’ senior living marketing teams and partner closely with SGD’s Lead Client Strategists. You will own the day-to-day relationship, lead client communication, coordinate squad execution, and ensure priorities move from strategy into action.
This is a great fit for an experienced digital marketer who wants to own client relationships without being a salesperson, orchestrate smart marketers without directly managing people, and stay close enough to the work to still be a marketer.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relationship & Communication
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for assigned client relationships from Strategy Intensive through onboarding and ongoing services.
- Lead routine client communication plus monthly and quarterly client meetings, with the Lead Client Strategist joining strategic conversations as needed.
- Present reporting, status updates, project progress, risks, and next steps clearly and confidently after LCS review.
- Build trusted relationships with client marketing and sales leaders and proactively surface concerns, opportunities, or retention risks.
Strategy-to-Execution & Project Ownership
- Translate approved strategy and growth priorities into actionable project plans, briefs, timelines, and next steps.
- Delegate and coordinate work across assigned Marketing Project Coordinators, Specialists, and Subject Matter Experts so every project has clear ownership, context, and deadlines.
- Remove execution blockers, follow up on approvals and dependencies, and keep work moving without requiring the LCS to manage day-to-day tasks.
- Make minor timing and priority adjustments within the approved strategy; elevate major changes in audience, positioning, content direction, or overall strategy to the LCS.
- Identify and manage client scopes of work, discuss scope concerns with clients, adjust priorities when appropriate, and support upsells when additional work is necessary.
Research, Reporting & Quality Control
- Own first-pass research and audit preparation, including competitive research, digital presence reviews, audience/persona research, stakeholder interviews, and supporting strategy documentation.
- Prepare organized findings, reporting summaries, presentation materials, and recommendations for LCS review.
- Serve as the final routine quality-control checkpoint before work reaches the client, confirming accuracy, clarity, brand alignment, strategic alignment, and client readiness.
- Coordinate with the project team and Subject Matter Experts for SEO, paid search, analytics, technical integrations, design, and content, ensuring specialized work connects back to the larger client plan.
- You don’t need to be the technical expert in every channel, but you do need enough digital marketing fluency to ask smart questions, understand specialist recommendations, spot gaps, and confidently connect the work back to client priorities.
Marketing Support & Execution
- Execute light copywriting and copyediting within established strategy and brand direction.
- Support campaign design and builds, including routine email and marketing automation execution.
- Make minor campaign or content updates when deeper technical expertise is not required.
- Stay close to execution through light copywriting, copyediting, campaign design and builds, while coordinating deeper specialized work with the appropriate Subject Matter Experts.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 3+ years of relevant marketing experience with demonstrated experience managing client or stakeholder relationships and coordinating multiple projects.
- Client/account management experience required, with confidence owning day-to-day client communication and relationship health.
- Project management experience required, including managing multiple projects, deadlines, contributors, and competing priorities.
- Hands-on digital marketing experience required, with working knowledge across content, email, websites, marketing automation, SEO, paid media, analytics, and related digital channels.
- Digital marketing agency experience preferred.
- Senior living industry experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with confidence leading client meetings and presenting updates.
- Experience with Asana or comparable project-management software required; comfort with Google Workspace, Slack, WordPress/CMS platforms, marketing automation/email platforms, CRM systems, GA4/reporting tools, Loom, Notion, Canva, and Zoom strongly preferred.
YOU ARE PERFECT FOR OUR TEAM IF YOU
- Are extremely organized and detail-oriented, but know when progress matters more than perfection.
- Enjoy owning client relationships and helping clients feel clear, supported, and confident — without needing to be a salesperson.
- Can take a smart marketing strategy and turn it into an actionable plan that actually gets shipped.
- Are proactive and think to do something before being asked.
- Can multitask and keep control of moving parts across multiple clients, deadlines, and contributors.
- Are a fast action-taker who follows through and closes loops.
- Can problem-solve through ambiguity and bring solutions, not just problems.
- Are comfortable giving direction, asking good questions, and knowing when a strategic decision should be elevated.
- Are excited about digital marketing and want to work as an extension of senior living marketing teams.
- Are excited about digital marketing and working with a variety of businesses to help transform their digital strategies and foundations.
What Success Looks Like
- Approved strategy translates into organized, high-quality execution.
- Scope concerns, risks, and growth opportunities are identified early and managed proactively.
- The project team and Subject Matter Experts have the context they need to deliver excellent work.
- Projects move forward consistently, with strong ownership and on-time execution.
- Clients feel clear, confident, informed, and supported.
Position Details & Benefits
- Part-time W2 position averaging 25-30 hours per week (with an option to go full time after 90 days).
- Fully remote US-based position.
- Flexible schedule and general availability during SGD office hours of 9:00am-4:00pm CT, Monday-Friday.
- Eligible benefits include PTO, sick time, paid company holidays, 401(k) match, and company stipends in accordance with SGD policies and eligibility requirements.
- This role reports to the Client Services Team Lead and coordinates squad execution without direct people-management responsibility.
- Growth Path: This role is designed to grow toward Lead Client Strategist as strategic thinking, client leadership, and performance insight develop.
